Responsibilities

  • Provide compassionate direct support to psychiatric patients, assisting with activities of daily living and promoting recovery-oriented care.
  • Respond promptly and effectively to crisis situations using approved intervention techniques and safety protocols.
  • Monitor patient behavior, mood, and progress, reporting significant changes to nursing and clinical teams.
  • Collaborate closely with interdisciplinary teams to implement individualized care plans and ensure continuity of care.
  • Maintain accurate and confidential documentation compliant with mental health legislation and hospital policies.
  • Participate in patient-centered activities aimed at skill building, social interaction, and community reintegration.
  • Adhere strictly to Ontario Shores’ safety standards, clinical guidelines, and ethical practices.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of a high school diploma or equivalent; relevant post-secondary education or certifications in mental health or related fields is an asset.
  • Demonstrated experience working with psychiatric patients or in a mental health support capacity.
  • Strong knowledge of mental health support techniques, crisis intervention, and mental health legislation in Ontario.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary healthcare team.
  • Compassionate, patient-centered approach with the resilience to manage challenging behaviors and high-stress situations.
