Key Responsibilities
- Conduct comprehensive privacy risk assessments to identify and mitigate data protection vulnerabilities within business units.
- Implement and monitor privacy policies and procedures to ensure ongoing compliance with PIPEDA, GDPR, and related frameworks.
- Lead and support privacy impact assessments (PIA) for new projects, technologies, or partnerships to evaluate privacy risks early in development.
- Manage incident response activities including data breach investigations, documentation, and communication with internal and external stakeholders.
- Coordinate regular privacy audits and compliance monitoring to verify adherence to organizational standards and legal requirements.
- Provide training and guidance to employees across departments promoting privacy awareness and best practices.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams and regulators to maintain up-to-date privacy strategies aligned with evolving legal obligations and industry trends.
Qualifications
- Post-secondary degree in Information Management, Law, Business, or related field.
- Minimum 3-5 years’ experience working in privacy and data protection roles, preferably within regulated industries.
- In-depth knowledge of Canadian privacy legislation, especially PIPEDA, with strong familiarity of GDPR requirements.
- Proven skills in privacy risk assessment, incident response, and conducting privacy impact assessments (PIAs).
- Experience performing privacy compliance audits and managing data breach protocols.
- Certifications such as CIPP/C, CIPT, or equivalent are preferred but not mandatory.
